FLATCOAT® TEC uses Physical Vapor Deposition to apply a Diamond-Like Carbon layer that is extraordinarily thin yet incredibly hard. This preserves the tool's razor-sharp cutting edge — critical when milling soft, abrasive polymers like PEEK and PMMA.
Unlike thicker coatings that round off cutting edges, FLATCOAT® TEC's 0.5–2.5 μm thickness maintains the geometry of the original ground edge. This means cleaner chip formation, no fuzzy margins on provisional restorations, and dramatically reduced static and dust buildup during dry milling.
The ultra-low friction coefficient of 0.1 prevents heat marks on temperature-sensitive materials like PMMA, keeping surface quality consistent from the first blank to the last.
