Precision burs for milling titanium abutments, bars, and implant frameworks. FLATCOAT® TTN coating handles the extreme heat and gummy chip formation of titanium machining — maintaining sharp edges and extending tool life. Gold Medal winner at the German Design Awards 2021.
02 Coating Technology
The heat-resistant coating engineered for titanium milling — where gummy chips, heat buildup, and tool adhesion define success.
[ COATING TECHNOLOGY ]
FLATCOAT® TTN uses Physical Vapor Deposition to apply a special coating specifically engineered for the extreme demands of titanium milling. The coating's thermal stability up to 1100°C means it maintains performance even under the intense heat generated by titanium's poor thermal conductivity.
Titanium's tendency to produce long, gummy chips that weld onto cutting edges is the leading cause of premature tool failure. FLATCOAT® TTN's anti-adhesion properties dramatically reduce material sticking, keeping edges clean and enabling reliable chip evacuation throughout the tool's life.
The result: longer tool life, more predictable machining, and better surface finish on titanium abutments, bars, and implant frameworks.
Standard PVD Coating
FLATCOAT® TTN
Optimized hardness that resists abrasion without brittleness under titanium's interrupted cutting loads
Variable thickness tuned to geometry — thinner on finishing edges, thicker for roughing
Extreme thermal stability compensates for titanium's poor heat dissipation during machining
Anti-adhesion surface prevents titanium chip welding and built-up edge formation
FLATCOAT® TTN's surface chemistry prevents titanium chip welding — the primary cause of built-up edge and premature tool failure when machining Ti alloys.
With 1100°C tolerance, the coating maintains its properties even as titanium's low thermal conductivity concentrates heat at the cutting edge.
Reduced friction and smooth coating surface help evacuate titanium's long, gummy chips — preventing re-cutting and delivering clean surface finish on abutments and bars.
